Last week we did speeches for the kaikohe speech contest. Our Principal Mrs Whitelaw and Year 4 teacher Mrs Craig were our judges. They picked two finalists they were Willow and Depla. This is my Speech.

All blacks are the best team ever.

I believe that the All Blacks are the best Rugby team….

Firstly we have to remember the first team ever selected in 1884 to play in NSW. From that year on the All Blacks have won all over the world. We keep winning because we play to the whistle and train hard, because of that the All Blacks have become the `first ever team to win 3 RWC and  the first to win back to back World Cups. The countries they won the world cup in were NZ, Australia and England.

Over the years there have been over 1100 people chosen to be an All Black. Some of our greatest are Richie McCaw who played his 22nd RWC game in the final in 2015 to lead his team to victory, equalling with Jason Leonard as the joint most capped player in tournament history.

Julian Savea scored eight tries at this World Cup and equalled Jonah Lomu (1999) and Bryan Habana (2007) for the most tries in a single edition of the tournament. They scored those tries because the forwards done their job so the backs could get them into space to score the try.

Did you know that I have 2 great uncles who were All Blacks? Kawhena and Fred Woodman - I hope I can join them one day to be an All Black.

Other greats include Colin Meads, Sean Fitzpatrick, John Kirwan, Michael Jones, the Going brothers from Northland and many more.

What makes a great All Black? Dedication, training, a team player, agility, speed and strength.
